Juttas Festival 2025 // Musik, Workshop und Lesungen - komplettes Programm

The program for the second edition of Jutta's Festival is ready!

Friday, August 1

4:00–5:00 p.m. (Information Point "Am Ohr") Guided Tour of the Estate's Jewish History from 1932 to 1943.
As "Landwerk Neuendorf," the estate served as an agricultural training center for Jewish people. Later, it became a labor and deportation camp. With Julia Cartarius , "History Has a Future – Neuendorf im Sande"

5:30–6:30 p.m. (Zur Tanke) German Culture of Remembrance and the Destruction of Gaza.
Remembering the Holocaust and addressing current events in Gaza and the West Bank are leading to difficult discussions internationally, but especially in Germany. This also influences our work at the Neuendorf im Sande estate, where, in the 1930s, Jewish people prepared for emigration to Palestine under Nazi pressure. Reflecting on a Dilemma, with Tanja Tricarico and Bernd Pickert, History Has a Future – Neuendorf im Sande

6:30–8:00 p.m. (Bullenstall) – Film: Antifa. Shoulder to Shoulder Where the State Failed.
For the first time, five Antifa activists speak in detail about the background and practices of an unusually professional movement that countered the burgeoning neo-Nazi scene in reunified Germany after 1989. Leftvision 2024

8:00 PM (Zur Tanke) – Sasha Lurje & Lebedik Trio
The journey of Yiddish song from its homeland in Eastern Europe to New York's Lower East Side. This musical collaboration between acclaimed Latvian singer Sasha Lurje and American violinist extraordinaire Craig Judelman follows the twists and turns of the Yiddish song tradition, from intimate folk songs to sophisticated theater and art songs. Sasha and Craig are accompanied by accordionist Sanne Möricke, one of the leading musicians of the Berlin klezmer scene for decades.

9:30 PM (Zur Tanke) – Duo PAYE
PAYE  is an innovative Berlin-based duo that combines the traditional sounds of Anatolia with the pulsating rhythms of electronic music. Founded by Ufuk Elik (saz, baglama, vocals) and Cem Dinler (keys, synthesizer), two experienced musicians from Istanbul's vibrant music scene, the duo draws on its roots in Anatolian folk music while venturing into new soundscapes.

11:00 PM (Zur Tanke) – Pulsar Collective
Pulsar Collective are four live-looping multi-instrumentalists who create energetic and captivating electronic live performances. Each performance is a unique interpretation of their original musical ideas – no two shows ever sound the same.
Equipped with two voices, a drum machine, synthesizers, percussion, guitar, and bamboo saxophone, they seamlessly blend melodic techno, indie dance, and breakbeats with wave, psychedelic rock, and a touch of world music.

Saturday, August 2

10:30-11:30 a.m. (Bullenstall) – Turn off Tesla's water supply!
Janine Korduan will present the struggles on water in eastern Brandenburg, particularly the work of the Grünheide Citizens' Initiative and the "Turn off Tesla's Water Supply" alliance.
This is important for people here, but also relevant for Berliners. It's possible that even
more forest will be felled around Fürstenwalde.

11:00–12:00 (Information Point "Am Ohr") Guided Tour of the Estate's Jewish History from 1932–1943
. As "Landwerk Neuendorf," the estate served as an agricultural training center for Jewish people. Later, it became a labor and deportation camp. With Julia Cartarius , "History Has a Future – Neuendorf im Sande"

11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. (Fire Department Tent) – Local Politics in Rural Areas in Times of Right-Wing Election Successes
. How does politics actually work at the local level? Wind turbines, solar parks, or all-day schools – the balancing act between federal policy and local implementation is not without friction. Added to this are municipalities whose own resources are extremely limited and an administration that is being paralyzed by the right in some regions. How can politics still be shaped at the local level under these conditions? Eva Hoffmann, a municipal representative in Steinhöfel, reports on which issues are hotly debated in the region, how she deals with attacks from the right, and which strategies work and which don't.

12:00–2:00 PM (Zur Tanke) – Young Nazis, Martial Arts, Images of Masculinity, and the Right-Wing Extremist Scene in 2025.
In many places, including Brandenburg, emerging groups of very young neo-Nazis are causing a stir. What kind of people are these, and how should they be assessed? The right-wing extremist construction of masculinity is based on violence and the right of the strongest – with martial arts as a central factor. What current structures exist? taz reporter Konrad Litschko and Jan-Henning Bode from the Grapple&Strike gym in Bremen will report on this. Following this, there will be a workout with simple boxing exercises. Presented by Bernd Pickert

1:00–2:00 p.m. (Bullenstall) – Thinking outside the box. In conversation with Ukrainian women (women only).
Various questions, 4 minutes, then a change of conversation partner – it's going to be fast-paced! Which questions? For example: What are your favorite sweets? Laughter is guaranteed, and fast-paced conversation too – because after 4 minutes, you'll be talking to another woman. Afterward, you can continue talking and exchanging ideas without time limit.
Moderated by Gabi Moser, social worker with a passion for intercultural interaction.

1:00–2:00 p.m. (Fire Department Tent) – Neuendorf im Sande Learning Center:
How are past, present, and future connected? And how can the former farmstead convey history in a new way today? Julia Cartarius and Katharina Vorbau will talk about
their educational work for schools and youth education centers at the estate.

2:30–4:00 p.m. (Bullenstall) – From Eisenhüttenstadt to Fürstenwalde – Militant Perspectives on the Disenfranchisement of Refugees.
Over the past six months, the situation for people seeking refuge in East Brandenburg has dramatically worsened: payment cards, Dublin Centers, and the suspension of family reunification are examples of pervasive discrimination. These practices acutely affect people in our area – from Eisenhüttenstadt to Fürstenwalde. On the panel, solidarity initiatives from neighbors and self-organized refugees will provide insights into current political struggles and practical support options.

3:00–4:00 p.m. (Zur Tanke) – Antifeminism Yesterday and Today.
She was employed and self-confident, sexually open, but unwilling to marry: the New Woman of the 1920s. A feminist role model of her time – and a popular target
for Nazis, then and now. The Jewish woman Elsa Hermann wrote about the New Woman around 100 years ago. Journalist Katja Kullmann reflects on her today in her book "The Singular Woman." Presented by Tanja Tricarico

3:00–6:00 p.m. (Fire Department Tent) – Upcycling Workshop: There's no such thing as trash!
Old becomes new, recycled paper becomes postcards, pictures, and illustrations. We'll get creative together and cut, glue, and sew our way to the world we want.
Practical things for adults and children ages 6 and up, with
Claudine Roemen, loewengruen.de

4:00–5:00 p.m. (Information Point "Am Ohr") Guided Tour of the Estate's Jewish History from 1932 to 1943.
As "Landwerk Neuendorf," the estate served as an agricultural training center for Jewish people. Later, it became a labor and deportation camp. With Julia Cartarius , "History Has a Future – Neuendorf im Sande"

4:00–5:00 PM (Bullenstall) – Dialogues
… when things are barely moving? A playful change of perspective with the Grandmas Against the Right Brandenburg

4:30–5:30 p.m. (Zur Tanke) – Punk as a Form of Resistance.
New Nazis, sexism, homophobia, and an authoritarian "centre" – all of this already existed in the 1970s. Punk was the response. Young women and men sang satirically about
fears of foreign infiltration, law and order, gay sex, and female orgasms.
Ulrich Gutmair's book "We Are the Turks of Tomorrow" tells the story. A reading with musical examples will be included.

5:30-6:15 p.m. (Bullenstall) – Film: Hachschara Revisited
A project by LandKunstLeben eV as part of the Cultural Land Brandenburg theme year
“Freedom. Equality. Democracy and Democratic Movements,” 2009
A film by Konstanze Binder

6 p.m. (village square) – Dorfcombolitas
10 women
9 instruments
From accordion to trumpet
with life experience and unbridled desire for loud sounds

7:30 p.m. (Zur Tanke) – Zeynep Akdil.
Cellist Zeynep Akdil, born in Izmir, captivates her audiences with her expressive playing, taking them on an emotional journey through diverse soundscapes. After studying at the German University of Music and Performing Arts (DEU) in Izmir and Hacettepe University in Ankara, she moved to Germany in 2003. Today, she delights audiences worldwide as a soloist—from classical music to folk music to experimental sounds. Since 2018, she has lived in Berlin, where she brings her unique artistic vision to the stage.

9:00 PM (Zur Tanke) – Tulgey Beat
. The band originally performed under the name WhatsFISH before changing it to Tulgey Beat while working on their debut album, "Out of Context" (2024). The name change was intended to convey a sense of mystery and stimulate the listener's imagination. "Tulgey" is a word coined by Lewis Carroll (Alice in Wonderland, 1865) that means "dense," "dark," or "sinister," and often refers to a forest. Combined with the word "beat," it emphasizes the band's rhythmic elements with an air of mystery.

10:30 PM (Zur Tanke) – Hakan Vreskala & Turbo Folk
Hakan Vreskala & TurboFolk push musical boundaries with a distinctive blend of Anatolian folk music, punk attitude, and a healthy dose of madness. Anyone who thinks traditional sounds and rebelliousness don't mix will be proven wrong here. Distorted Çağlama meets thunderous percussion, grunge guitar riffs dance with Anatolian melodies, and a powerful bass adds a sense of grounding – raw, wild, and yet precisely arranged. On stage, this creates an energetic spectacle that whirls the audience between ecstasy, dance, and collective euphoria.

Midnight to ??? (Time Capsule) – DJ ALMAN PVNK
DJ ALMAN PVNK is named after the punk records he once played with German lyrics in Istanbul. For Jutta, he'll tone things down and play danceable music: punk, new wave, Neue Deutsche Welle, electropop, and whatever else is on his hard drive.

Stefan and Peter's Tractor Museum
is a piece of living history here at the Neuendorf im Sande estate. They grew up in the village and worked on the state-owned farm during the GDR era, which was the estate at the time.
In 1994, not only was the GDR history, but so was the state-owned farm, and with it, the agricultural machinery used there. Stefan and Peter began collecting them and lovingly caring for the vehicles. Over time, they built their "Tractor Museum."
Stefan and Peter open their doors on Fridays from 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 2 p.m. Come visit us!

Jutta Baumwol

Jutta's Festival is named in memory of Jutta Baumwol, who would have turned 100 this year if the Nazis hadn't deported her from our estate to Auschwitz shortly before her 18th birthday and killed her because she was Jewish.
Jutta came to Neuendorf as a young girl in 1941 for forced labor. In April 1943,
she was deported to Auschwitz along with the other remaining "Neuendorf" Jews
and murdered there. A formative and impressive letter that she was able to send to her family in Israel before her death is inscribed there. "Stay strong, I am too," it reads.
A memorial at the entrance to the Neuendorf im Sande estate commemorates Jutta's fate, and every year on May 4th we celebrate her birthday. The festival is dedicated to Jutta's courage and her story . It stands for understanding, against anti-Semitism, racism, and all forms of hatred and exclusion, in Brandenburg and everywhere.
